As with all parts of a low budget series, the model pyro had to be a very limited budget. So we found radio control models and super detailed them. Two were made and only one used in the end.

We did a fair bit of work on the main structure to make it strong and fragile. We didn’t know exactly how much would be seen, but knew it was from a distance so we could get away with a lot but still needed basic structures.

The budget didn’t extend to a fuel motor so we used electric which did not spin the rotor anywhere near fast enough for the shot at high speed. These shots are me and the pyro guy setting the model up.

It was hung from a crane, I started up the rotor, yelled ‘speed’ when it was fully going... and then that was the end of that model.
